All I Know About Food Photography

Written By administrator On 12:28 AM 0 comments
Over the past few weeks, I was able to visit a few photo studios in the metro. Including the one of Jess Marquez.
I must admit, I am being conquered by my envious nature and really wanted to set up my own. Hush! I know I am way going to that point.

But for now, I have to stand on what I have and enjoy the craft.
And for now..again...I want to talk about getting into food photography.

Foods are what we crave for..that is in the most common sense of the word. I am not good at taking photos of food but I wish to learn it. I have been doing a lot of attempts though but I dont seem to get it.

Unlucky for me, my problem is resources. I was not blessed with any culinary skill so I am having a very hard time looking for a subject..the FOOD! So, whenever I get to dine on a restaurant, the opportunistic me....grabs the chance to get into food photography at least on that moment. Ofcourse, drinks are victims too.

Next stop would be fashion and am looking forward to meet people who'd love to teach me...LOL. But for Now, I would need to get some relaxin' moment.

Why I Love Photography

Written By administrator On 1:22 AM 0 comments
I always love the idea that photography can capture the moment. It is like a fantasy yet in its most realistic sense. The camera is like a tiny piece of time machine that has the power to freeze time. Literally.

I started loving photography in college. I got a "digital photography" subject. Yeah, our school teaches conventional photography no more. I never got to experience how to shoot and develop photos in film. But I really loved photography because of that class. I only had a low end digital camera by that time (and  I dont have any idea where it is right now).

I learned the basics, proper angle...proper use of the light...of exposure. etc.

I am a geek..well, not in the most technical sense of the word...but in the sense that I am a techie guy. Get me in a tech store and I tell you...I will always have the urge to buy everything in that store...Photography has a concrete link with technology. This is one thing that get me to love photography.

How To Take Photos of People

Written By administrator On 1:52 AM 0 comments
Taking photos of people is rather much different than shooting landscape, animals etc. Though portrait photography is a little bit hard in situations like candid photography because you have limited control of the subjects thus you have limited control of the settings of the camera as far as time is concerned. Well, people are one of the best and fun subjects.

The key to portrait photography is creative imagination - well, this applies to the whole field of photography. Just have fun and let your imagination play. Set your camera to automatic settings and just play around on how to creatively put the subject on frame...play with the angles and the colors.

Using a telephoto lens is what is suggested when shooting people. Though a kit lens is good enough, 100mm or more is better. Kit lens are usually wide angle lens and can distort the image. Using a zoom lens will get the proper dimension of the photo. Well, I must admit, sometimes Photography is an expensive hobby. Here is a tip, you can always  go and purchase products online . I got a good deal when I got my macro lens.

Ofcourse, the light should never be ignored. Proper and creative manipulation of lights will bring out best photos.

Creative Vado Review

Written By administrator On 2:30 AM 0 comments

A friend ( who was leaving for London ) gave me her Creative Vado as a "sweet remembrance". Well, its a gift. I was so damn lucky to have it. This is every techie people  would love to consider and try out.

Creative Vado is a mini HD pocket camcorder. I got the silver colored Vado 1st generation. Well, good enough for a giveaway and luxurious enough to receive as a gift. It is really lightweight and obviously thinner compared to to the classic Flip cam.  Very ideal for shooting outdoor activities and VLOGGING. The BIG question is, is it really HD? Technically, No but I can say that it can capture High Quality Video formats. So far I am lovin' this thing.

Video duration can last up to an hour when set to HQ mode and 2 hours for standard. Not bad eh? Battery life can last up to an hour also.

My Photo Passion

I just got my first ever DSLR and am so proud of it. Its a Nikon D40, a pro camera for photography beginners like who wants to learn the art in-depth. Nikon D40 has an auto and manual function which help me learn right aperture adjustments, shutter speeds and stuff. Pretty neat though. I only got a 35-50mm AF lens which came along with the whole kit when I purchased the camera. But I will eventually get a zoom lens later on. And more stuff to add later on.

Lanscape and travel photography is where I  am currently focusing on but planning to dwell on wedding and portraits as soon as I get my hands master the craft. LOL.
